2nd XI Captain: Matty Wallace

“Moving into 2021 after what has been the strangest and most difficult year I think all of us have had to deal with, I’m feeling very optimistic when looking ahead to the cricket season.

With the work Scott and JT have put in over the last 5 or 6 seasons as first and second team captains respectively, I feel that both the first and second teams are in much better places than they were before.
With the addition of new players and the development of existing players continuing I think that we are in great shape to challenge at the top end of the league in 2021.

Over the last few years, the only things that have let us down have been limited availability, meaning that sides have not been as settled as they should be.
In addition, I think that at times we have not always applied ourselves fully in tough moments that has led to us coming out on the wrong side of the result a few times or letting other teams back into the game when we should not.

For 2021 if we can just focus for longer periods when fielding, apply ourselves a bit more with bat in hand and keep applying pressure to teams when we are doing well. We will win more games and get on the right side of more results and hopefully get into the promotion spots after a few years of just falling short at the end.

I am very much looking forward to 2021 and the new challenges that the captaincy of the second team has for me.

I would just like to wish Ryan and Steve all the best in their roles as captains as well as their squads. Go well lads.

All the best “
